Stakeholder Leadership Team Meeting Minutes
August 11, 2008

Opening:

The regular meeting of the Spring River WRAPS WSLT meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm. on 8/11/2008 at the Baxter Springs Community Building.  We would like to thank KOAM TV and the Joplin Globe for being present and covering our meeting.

 

Present:

Carl Hayes, Crystal Eisele, Travis Robb, Scott Williams, Linda Phipps, Doug Blex, Bryant Burnett, Troy Krenzel, Clark Hall, Wrandi Clayton, Roger McKinney, Kavan Stull, Bill Miller, Carl Metcalf, Jaci Ferguson, Rich Baseore, Garry Collins, Sherry Collins.

 

A.             Approval of Minutes

Linda Phipps moved to approve the minutes 7/7/08.  Doug Blex seconded it.  The motion carried.

 

B.             Committee/Meeting Reports

The Technical Committee will meet Tuesday, July 22 at 1:00 pm. They discussed how they would like to start the 9 element plan for EPA.  The technical committee will be working on a fact sheet.

The Education Committee is working on bringing the Citizen Science program to Galena Middle School.

 

C.             Area Events

The Shoal Creek Water Festival was July 12 and we shared a booth with the Lower Shoal Creek Watershed group.  The county fair booth was not available.  The Bluegrass festival will be Sept 13 at Kiwanis Park in Baxter Springs.  It will focus on water awareness.  Autumn Adventures at the Glades is Oct. 4th.

 

D. Current Projects

Crystal Eisele is working on the logo but would like some ideas from the group.  The newsletter will be biannual.  If you are interested in writing an article please contact Carl Hayes.

 

E. Demo Project

KAWS has an unspecified demo for Spring River.  There were 9 demos discussed (see attached sheet).  A committee was put together to discuss the demos and to narrow them down to three.  The committee is Doug Blex, Carl Hayes, Kavan Stull, Scott Williams, Bill Miller and Bryant Burnett.  They will meet Monday 8/18/08.
